Summary

RakshaLink is designed to keep most data on your device, not on our servers. Scam detection runs entirely on your phone using on-device ML — message content never leaves the device. That means uninstalling the app deletes the bulk of your RakshaLink data automatically.

A small amount of data is stored on our backend (Google Cloud, India region) to enable Family Protection and Pro subscription features. This page tells you exactly what's where, and how to delete it.

What data is stored, and where

Data Where How to delete
Scan history (which messages were flagged + risk level) On device Clear app data or uninstall
Spending transactions (auto-debits, subscriptions you track) On device (SQLCipher-encrypted) Clear app data or uninstall
App settings + preferences On device Clear app data or uninstall
Family group membership (group ID + your chosen display name) Backend Leave Family Group in-app (see Section A below)
Phone number (Family Pro coordinators only, with explicit consent) Backend (AES-256 encrypted) Delete in Settings → Family Protection (see Section B)
FCM push token (so the app can receive family alerts) Backend Uninstalling RakshaLink invalidates the token automatically
Pro subscription state (active / expired) Backend Cancel Pro in Google Play; we delete the record on next sync
Anonymous analytics (Firebase) — feature usage, crash reports Backend (pseudonymous device ID, no PII) Uninstall + reset Advertising ID in Android settings, or email us

A. Delete Family Protection data

If you joined or created a family group, follow these steps to delete that data from our backend.

1Open RakshaLink → Settings

Tap the gear icon on the dashboard, then scroll to Family Protection.

2Tap "Leave Family Group"

You'll see a confirmation dialog explaining what gets deleted. Confirm to proceed.

3What happens on the backend

  • Your member entry is removed from the family group within seconds.
  • If you were in only one group, your encrypted phone number (if you had enrolled it) is deleted immediately.
  • If you were a coordinator, the coordinator role transfers to the longest-tenured remaining member.
  • If you were the last member, the group itself is deleted within 24 hours by our nightly cleanup job.

Privacy guarantee

Family Protection is fully opt-in. We never auto-enroll you. Leaving a family group does not affect scam detection on your own device — that continues to run on-device.

B. Delete your phone number (Family Pro coordinators)

If you enrolled your phone number as a Family Pro coordinator (so family members can one-tap call you when they receive a scam alert), you can delete it independently of your family group membership.

1Open Settings → Family Protection

Inside RakshaLink, scroll to Phone for emergency calls.

2Tap "Delete my phone number"

A confirmation dialog warns you that family members will no longer be able to one-tap call you. Confirm to proceed.

3What happens on the backend

  • Your encrypted phone number is deleted from our Firestore database within seconds.
  • You remain a member of your family group(s) — only the phone-call affordance is removed.
  • You can re-enroll a phone number later if you change your mind.

C. Uninstall RakshaLink

Uninstalling the app deletes nearly all RakshaLink data tied to your device:

Important: Uninstalling does not automatically delete your backend Family Protection data. If you've joined a family group or enrolled a phone, follow Section A and Section B first, then uninstall.

If you've already uninstalled without leaving the group, contact us (Section E below) with your Firebase Installation ID or the email used at signup — we'll delete the backend record manually within 7 business days.

D. Cancel Pro subscription

If you have a Family Pro or Personal Pro subscription, cancellation is handled via Google Play (not in-app, per Google Play Billing rules).

1Open the Google Play Store

On the same Google account you used to subscribe.

2Profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions

Find RakshaLink and tap Cancel subscription.

3What happens on our backend

  • Google Play notifies us within minutes via Real-time Developer Notifications (RTDN).
  • Your Pro entitlement record is removed from our backend on the next app open or by the nightly cleanup job (within 24 hours), whichever comes first.
  • You continue to enjoy Pro features until the end of the paid period.

E. Email request (for cases where in-app deletion isn't possible)

If you can't access the in-app flows (e.g., you've already uninstalled, or you're locked out for some reason), email us:

📧 support@rakshalink.in

Use the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and include:

  • Your Firebase Installation ID (if you still have the app — Settings → About → long-press version line)
  • OR the family group invite code you used (if you know it)
  • OR the Play Store account email used for any Pro purchase

We delete the requested data within 7 business days and email you a confirmation. We do not require you to send sensitive identifiers like Aadhaar, PAN, or full phone numbers.

Your rights under DPDP Act 2023

The Indian Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 gives you these rights, and RakshaLink supports each of them:

Our full Privacy Policy details what data we collect, why, and how it's protected.
